Objectives

Kahukura has three main objectives: kahukura logo graphic

To provide tamariki with the opportunity to learn about Ngāi Tahu identity, language and culture.
To support teachers and schools to deliver iwi specific content.
To support productive partnerships between schools, their whānau and iwi.

These objectives will be achieved through Kahukura when schools tailor student learning in line with the aspirations of whānau. As well as allowing Ngāi Tahu students to celebrate their identity language and culture, it also supports all students living in the Ngāi Tahu region to gain valuable knowledge and information about local iwi history and related kaupapa.
