Icon Advisory Group

The Kahukura Advisory Group has been formed to support Whero Services Ltd. to develop and implement the Kahukura Ngāi Tahu cultural learning programme.  

The Advisory Group is made up of invited educational professionals, rūnanga and whānau members who have expertise and experience that will assist the successful development and implementation of Kahukura.


Members of the Kahukura Advisory Group 2008 are:

  •     Lynne Harata Te Aika - University of Canterbury/Ngāi Tahu
  •     Sean Bailey - Somerfield Primary
  •     Haneta Pierce - Christchurch City Libraries
  •     Christine Brown - Resource Teacher of Māori
  •     Raukura Gillies - University of Canterbury/Ngāi Tahu
  •     Eruera Tarena - Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu/Ngāi Tahu

The Advisory Group has been formed to provide feedback and advice about:
  1. The quality of Kahukura student and kaiako materials and how they might be improved.
  2. How Kahukura can be developed to maximise benefits for Ngāi Tahu whanau and schools
  3. What processes and materials are needed to support whānau
  4. Communication and relationships with key stakeholders including schools, whanau and Rūnanga
  5. The quality and cultural appropriateness of Kahukura content and focus areas
  6. Future direction and implementation
