Kahukura ki Ōtautahi content is grouped under the following headings:

Some examples of tasks include:
- Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu has a board who represent the 18 Papatipu Rūnanga. Find out the name of the Kaiwhakahaere (Chairperson) and the names of 3 other board members. Include which Rūnanga they represent.
- Draw a timeline in your journal from 1795 until the Ngai Tahu Claim Settlement in 1998. Provide dates and details for at least 5 significant events leading up to the settlement.
- Find out about a mahinga kai close to where you live. Describe the kai that was gathered there and other interesting information. Record in your journal.
A task will usually take tamariki between 10 – 30 minutes to complete, depending on their age and the support that they have. All information is available online and the appropriate websites are identified for each task. There is also 1 project to complete which will take 2 – 4 hours. For this, tamariki choose their own Ngāi Tahu project topic (they might want to find out about their marae, rūnanga, an event, well known person, an awa etc.).
